An Instrument of Peace

Today is Oct 4th which is the feast day of St. Francis. He gave up his life for the poor and to be Christ like to all those he met.

Every where you look there is bad news or news of violence, anger or hatred. Our world seems to be falling to pieces and I want to find a way to help make it better. How can we make it better? I think it could be as simple as a small act of kindness. If everyone in the world did one nice thing for someone else imagine how great that would be. We have to set the example. We have to live the way we want the world to be,

The Prayer of St. Francis, also known as the peace prayer is as follows;

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. author unknown

In my meditation podcast I changed the words around a little because I wanted all people, religious and non-religious, to benefit from this prayer and not feel like it was for one religion over another.

I hope you enjoy it!!
